Thats would throw me for a loop its never below 70 for more than 3 days where i live

My buddies 4 runner had an ice scraper in it when he was gifted it (rust truck from new york) and kept it for almost a year thinking it was a special tool he may need one day not realizing wtf it was

It snowed one time in 2002 and my dad splashed a bot of boiling water onto the tacomas windshield

Fortunately a cracked Tacoma windshield didn't cost $1000 to replace back in 2002. :)

Give the lithium battery a go then - relatively low cost way to lighten the vehicle.

I've got a lithium battery in the Harley, way light weight, cranks the bike fast. Only a couple of months old, so no longevity report.

Because it didn't have TSS and the requisite recalibration after?

I have been running two East Penn Manufacturing AGM batteries 9A34R in my Tacoma and 4 Runner for 4 or 5 years with no problems.

The 4Runner sits at work most of the time unless it is going to snow or get icy only was driven a few times in the last year the work truck goes home

I like the lack of Corrosion from the acid

I am Happy I got this long .

Good to Have A AGM charger

Cheap lead acid batteries for me. Always seem to go 7 years:D

140A alternator with towing package trucks. Should be enough unless they require some kind of special charging cycle.

    Warmer climate=shorter battery life.

Wouldnt it pretty much be known by now if AGM wasn't a drop in replacement, that some charging system changes were needed.

This is correct. To fully charge an AGM needs 14.4-14.7 volts.

It has plenty of amps, just not ‘optimum’ voltage.
They will work fine as a drop in replacement although many guys top them off with an AGM charger monthly.
Alternator output is controlled by ECU now through duty cycle and target voltage control, not onboard voltage regulators.
OV tune figured out how to bump it up to 14.4 if anyone is interested.

Might be why my Interstate Battery Salesperson says they are a waste of money .

But would be glad to order one in.
