3 PIAA 520 ATP 85W too much???????

Getting a defiant light bar and looking at the piaa 520 atp.They are 85w each and I will bolt 3 of them on the bar.Will 255wbe too much for the power systeme of my 2004 tacoma?

 

255/12=21.25 amps draw. You should be fine.

 

Hell no! I have 4 of them on my truck. although I have a 2nd gen but that really shouldnt change anything

 

How much is "too" much? I'm completely new to lighting and electrical. I want to put some lights on as well.

 

"To much" would depend on the size of your alternator vs the amp draw of the lights you want to use.
Example:A pair of 130w lights would draw 21.67amps.(divide the total watts
of the lights by 12 =amps draw)

 

Do you do a lot of off roading or are they just for looks?

 

how many amps is a second gen 4 banger good for? and how many does it draw stock? ie. how many can you add before you need to consider an aftermarket alternator?
