I feel you bro. I have been face-to-face with black bears, rattle snakes, and wild tarantulas.

the only thing that scares me are meth addicts/drug gangs in the national forests and ticks.

Lyme disease is a life long prison sentence and basically, your entire personality will change.

losing your family, friends and job over a stupid bug is not worth it.

I'll post this here in case anyone gets similar symptoms. It's no joke, like people have said. I got lyme disease back in 2016....in the dead of winter, of all times! That's what made it difficult to identify. Likely from the Christmas tree. It was a warm winter and it has been documented that ticks were in the Christmas trees that year when most people would take home from the farms. Anyway, took 6 weeks before it was identified. First symptom was similar to a 24 hour flu. Bad chills, fever, nausea. Then the neck pain started, w/ lots of muscle spasms. Eventually migrated to heart palpitations where my gf thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest when laying down for bed at night. Over the 6 weeks, had the 24 hour flu symptoms 3x. Started the 4 week course of Doxy and it took all the way until the end before I really started to feel some relief. About a week or two after, I developed a horrendous joint pain in my right shoulder. Thought it was a heart attack symptom considering the heat issues I had during it. That was an uncomfortable, sleepless night. Got checked at the ER just in case.

Anyway...heres the thing. Don't worry about getting the tick on you. If you find it and remove it w/in 24 hours, you're usually fine. If you can remove it and save it, send the tick in to get checked, and if you are super concerned, yes...ask the Dr. to start a course of antibiotics. (to whoever posted antibiotics shouldnt be taken on one of the previous pages...please don't post things you know nothing about). There's also some great free resources out there like this https://tickencounter.org/tickspotters/submit_form

4 years later and when I get random pains and other issues that persist, I wonder if it's the lingering lyme. It's one of those diseases that fuck with your head just as much as your body. Best of luck.

I've got Lyme's as well but never found a bullseye. Also came back negative on the titre but the Dr said those tests are crap and ice definitely got it. My symptoms were flu like, but my legs were especially on fire. So much so that it was difficult to sleep. I put up with it for a few days before going to the Dr and starting doxycycline. It sounds like I got very lucky.

Ticks have always been a normal part of life for me, I figured it was just a matter of time.
