New Member Not Yet a Tacoma Owner

Hey everyone! Just thought I would join up early BEFORE I got my new Tacoma (or used). My name is Chad. I currently own a 2010 Subaru WRX hatchback that I bought brand new off the lot in September 2009. I love the car to death and have had a ton of fun with it, but it is my actual car that I have owned since my first car as a 16 year old.

I live in San Diego, Santee to be more specific. I like mountain biking (I have a 2009 Specialized FSR XC Pro), snowboarding, wakeboarding (have a house out at the Colorado River), quadding, baseball, working out, everything having to do with being active. I work in construction as a Project Engineer at a big construction company in San Diego. Originally from Northern Cali and moved to SD for school at SDSU.

A little history on my cars...
1. 1984 Toyota Corolla SR5 5 speed manual (yellow)... sold because I found a Jeep that I wanted.
2. 1997 Jeep Cherokee 4X4 5 speed manual... totalled in an accident on the freeway by some jackass undocumented worker
3. 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 250... temporary while I was between cars after the Jeep got totalled
4. 1993 Ford Explorer Sport 4X4 5 speed manual.... given to me by my uncle because I did not have transportation and he was FINALLY getting a new car for himself
5. 2010 Subaru WRX hatchback 5 speed manual of course!... I love this car, but need to be back into an SUV or Truck again.

So I am looking into purchasing a 2007 to 2011 Tacoma or 4Runner sometime in the near future when my car sells. I joined to learn a little more about the Tacoma and possibly the 4Runner if anyone has any good info. I am active on the Subaru forums and have found loads of information to help me on my DIY projects and stuff like that.

I hope to find that a Tacoma or 4Runner will actually meet my needs and will from time to time ask questions. I will most likely just be lurking to help me make a final decision on hopefully a Tacoma 4 door short bed 4X4.

Below are some pictures of my current car that I am trying to sell. It no longer has those wheels and tires on it though. It has the stock wheels and tires on and will soon be back at stock ride height after I have the springs removed....

Must say, that car is badass. But I have to agree, that even if I had a car like that, I would seriously miss having a truck.

 

Chad, nice subie, wish I could have one of those. Stupid question for ya, what construction company do you work for in SD?

I ended up getting a brand new 2010 Nissan Xterra SE 4X4. Thanks for all the warm welcomes though!

 

nice suv, my gf has the off road 4x4 xterra. love it.

i'm still waiting for my taco, it's apparently being built so i should get it right off the line
