2016 Tacoma TRD stock, what mods do you all recommend in order to safely do water fording. Folding gets bad in my area and we were trapped so I’d like to better prep the truck for emergency cases.

I think most modern vehicles biggest weaknesses are electronics mounted lower than water inlet points to the engine, so I'm goin by to say a lift and larger tires.

Fording moving water in a flood event is not a particularly good idea for a number of reasons. Water depths that could easily be forded under normal (stagnant/low flows) conditions could easily push you off the road/path. Better to understand the geography of your area and plan to get out before roads are flooding.

I'd agree. I wouldn't go past the top of the tires. Diff breather for sure and dielectric grease on things might help. Alternator is what I have had fail consistently in the past from water and mud on other trucks. Deep water can cause issues with the fan as well. Extended or frequent fording can cause wheel bearing and u joint issues and can invade axle bearings, so after a lot, I would change diff oil and grease everything you can.

@CygnusX191 is an expert on water fording

Well unless you want the water to stay outside your truck.
