Rear trans mount bracket - I did a dumb thing

So, I'm in the middle of a clutch replacement, and in my haste, I accidentally threw out the rear trans mount bracket. I thought,"No biggie, I'll just order another one from Toyota." Turns out they are no longer available. Anywhere in the US. Shit.

It's for a 2.4L, 2WD manual with the W59 trans.

Does anyone have one that they would be willing to sell?

 

Look up LKQ parts. LKQ is one of if not the largest auto recycle in the USA. Look up the part you need. If you can't find it, give them a call.

 

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't tried them, bit I've tried a few Toyota specialty wreckers (they all seem to be in California), and they throw away all of the motor and trans mounts when they pull the trans. I will try LKQ on Monday.

 

Is this it? Looks like AutoZone. An have one in a few days.

 

That's the trans mount, not the bracket it attaches to. I have a new mount, but now I need the bracket. In the pic above, it's the part with 4 bolts and the ears that wrap around the crossbar for the frame.

Are you talking a extra bracket that bolts to the
cross member ??

Not having been under a 2wd in years hard to recall just what the set up looks like

In most cases that is what the bracket attaches to .

I can`t see it being that hard to fabricate something that would work .

I learned 60 years ago to keep parts that I replaced for several weeks just to make sure I didn't need them. Saved my ass a few times. A couple other times, after I finally trashed them, I found that I shouldn't have. Oh well...

 

Inquire or take a trip to your local “auto recycling center”.

 

In our part of the world Tacoma`s are quite rare in yards .

Stripped in a few days and old vehicles get dumped for scrap to make room for newer.

 

If your unable to locate one. I"m sure i can get you one.

 

I misplace the New Parts I lost a Clutch Kit for a few years .

I find things I forgot all about most times after buying another to replace it.

 

The part number says it's still good, but no one has it.
Thank you so much for the offer, but my father in law and I came up with something. I'll take a pic to share the abomination that were making,but it should be more than strong enough to hold up the trans when we're done.

Yeah, I was going to suggest fabricating something.

I'm sure you could get a pic or two of a factory one from another member and copy it as best you can.

Most brackets are pretty simple to fabricate. They're just bent pieces of metal with holes in them. A couple of pieces of L bracket and some C clamps does wonders at bending thinner material. For the thick stiff: whiskey bends (you need a welder for that).

 

Here is a pic of the bracket we made. I bolted it up last night, drove the truck around, and it's holding just fine. The 3/16" steel is more than enough.

I actually placed an order with Toyota parts deal, and they can't get it. I called the dealer, and it's NLA.
