So right now I don't have a Tacoma but hoping by next year ill be getting one. Yes i want to get into modding and before actually getting a 3rd gen Tacoma. Obviously its a big purchase and I don't want to mess anything up.

So what I have been reading around that people when they get a Tacoma that some change the gear ratio (sometimes before doing any body mods). Mainly because it makes gear hunting transmission doesn't change as much, you get more power, better gas mileage, etc. Now I don't know anything about gear ratios at all. But that you gotta get a 5.29 in-order to see a big difference.

This is the kit im referring too

When it comes to body mods and what not im pretty good with that. This is my main concern because most people I've talked to didn't buy the Tacoma because of the tranny gear hunting all the time.

So my main question is does changing the gear ratio make that big of a difference and does it alter the reliability of the Tacoma?

Thanks for everyone help who ever replies. :D
