So my mother in law gave me these axis deer antlers from her late dad. They are pretty long - 29”. What are some ideas to mount them? They do have some bone nubs where they were cut off the skull. Thinking a leather mount? Or any other ideas that cheap/free?

You can then do a skull cap mount later, with the spreader

And I’ve had a bear with 2 tiny cubs over the last month...then they disappeared. I think I know why.

Leather wrapped antler mount will look great! I did this one with the one I killed 2 years ago.

Used this option once for a set I had pulled off a deer and left in the shop intending to cut up for dog chews. Then decided I needed a skull mount in the spare guest room. Works good, looks good and you can't even really tell it's not real unless you look close.

I’m terrible with guessing weight, but I’d say 375ish maybe? She’ll be over 400 by the time winter rolls around.

Used the shed spreader. Kinda fucked up the hole since the correct angle and length of screw would’ve gone right through the first fork. Wrapped with some twine to hide the gaps. Doesn’t look bad from far back. Would care a little more if it was my deer.
