I've enjoyed reading them all and studying the pics.

The style of construction and the local requirements are much different than I'm familiar with (other than things like Holmes on TV). I've owned NH property but I've never built anything in cold climate.

Admire your work. Well thought out (all that preparing) and executed. I'm sure the finished product will be awesome.

Don't know what they are called. I don't do much wood framing in commercial building. These braces.

    plumb and lining braces

This wall is pretty solid because its bolted to the concrete so it doesn't want to fall over and I'm not concerned about whether it's plumb or not at the moment but will be squaring it up and adding braces before I block and sheet it

I knew it was bolted and was wondering if it would be enough to hold it vertical, guess so.

Working on the other side wall today

This side will have some heavy duty lumber storage racks attached to the wall that are capable of carrying literally tonnes of lumber so every 2nd stud , or 32" on centre , I'm using a 3" x 5 1/2" stud in place of the standard 2x6 stud . The brackets will be mounted to these larger studs and they will help resist deflection in the wall when it is loaded

First job was to cut the 3" x 5 1/2" studs from some 3" x 8" timbers I had kicking around

I used my 10" circular saw and a rip guide to mill them down

My engineer called for these 3" studs to be attached through the top and bottom plates with 4 / #12 x 6 1/4" GRK R4 screws per connection

Studs all in place and man door rough opening framed

Tomorrow I'll complete this wall and then start on the rake walls

On another note , I'm accustomed to my chopsaw being at 38 1/2" above the floor but as my chopsaw bench in the new shop transitions to a workbench on one end in front of the windows , I'm experimenting with having my chopsaw at 36" . I jerry rigged my chopsaw bench to 36" with some 2' sawhorses and some blocks of wood and am going to run it like this for the week to see how it feels
