Fun not so much today. Spent 2 hours and only got 2 lights hooked up. I did get some more wire run though

Well, it did turn into a burnt valve replacement, so there's that

Truck is back together and running great.

Tips and tricks? Hmmmm. Not really a whole lot to it actually. Just get the gasket it kit from Toyota and buy the rest on rockauto if you've got to pull the head. That kit made it easy (although I didn't use all the pieces...hmmm.)

I might have more advice when I didn't just finish my taxes while _also_ finishing my whiskey...

Its probably fine. Not a whole lot to heating up metal really.

I liked the butane because I can take it with me and you can get fuel for it anywhere they sell cigarettes. It also doubles as a very small torch and a hot knife, which comes in handy.

Feel free. I took lots of pictures, so when you forget where something goes, we can figure it out.

Surprisingly, I didn't need them that much putting it back together - most things only go one way, or the wires are too short to go anywhere else anyway. I've had more difficult ikea furniture.

Yeah the only thing that makes me pause is dealing with the shims, and that'll be fine as well. Which tool worked best for you on that part? I'm hoping to have the two most helpful pry tools on hand, in hopes one helps me:rofl::D

So, in all honesty, when the head company reworked the rest of the head, they did the shims for me :D

But for the exhaust side, consider pulling the cam shaft. It comes out easy and gives a lot more room to work. To get the shims out of the bucket I used a big magnet.

Check that, on the magnets. Got a few of those
Maaaaan, see that's what I want to avoid, pulling cams and stuff. But if it's worth it.....
I'll find out pretty quickly I imagine if I think it's worth it or not when I get there and how long it keeps me stuck or fighting ridiculous crap:D
