We had a great adventure on the padre island national seashore. For those in TX, this needs to be on your list. It was my kids’ first overnight down there. We were a mile from the nearest person 11 miles down the sand. plenty of fish action and an overall great time. The truck performed as expected, which is awesome. Can’t wait for the next one down.

Dumb question (but I’m about to move to TX and would love to do this): How do you know how far the tide will come up? It looks like your tent is just 15 feet or so from the edge of the water.

Also, any precautions from rust bc of the salt water?

We put that tent down after high tide so we were good. There are charts and people usually put the tents next to the dunes. It will be more clear once you see it.

rust — super wash as soon as you’re outta there and back home. Then wash again. Don’t drive into the water. Then Wash again lol. Here are pics from our latest trip down. Coyotes and sharks!!!

I only had to pull the traction boards and ropes out twice this trip because some kids in a civic thought it would be cool to try the deep sand. And a 5.7v8 tundra with us got stuck - 2wd - so bring a shovel and some boards and air helps.
