For all you Tacoma owners, does my new cement 2020 TRD Offroad need running boards, sliders, or step bars? I am usually just an onroad drive, some off road but nothing extreme. My main concern is rock protection off of the tires....comments?

Mudflaps should help with that, I had oem which came off and replaced by duplicolor on front. But yea steps and sliders do help with rocks.

I run the OEM cast aluminum running boards. Between those and RokBlokz mud flaps, its made a huge difference in the amount of stuff that gets flung up. I live on a gravel road and only have a couple chips in my truck (all in the hood) after 3 years of driving them on a daily basis.

Mud Flaps are going to be your best bet. If you're doing mainly on-road and nothing extreme off-road, mud flaps will be more than enough to make rocks a nonissue

No experience with that, but that may be a good mix between a step, and not having anything hanging too low.

I will say though, they look like they sit almost like a slider would and a slider is an okay step at best. You still have to get pretty far up there that you might as well step on the door sill at that point. If you're just going down dirt roads, maybe something similar to the OEM predator tube steps?

Mud flaps. If your set on steps, the oem cast aluminum ones are what I run, and I like them. The predator steps seem like the hang a little lower due to the step.

Op, no worries. Welcome to the soup ! And, congrats on your truck.

I didn't need sliders -- I go off road but on long trails where I am not doing a lot of climbing over rocks, etc. I like the look but didn't need them. I did need steps, though. Older you get the tougher it is to get into the cab. :). Plus wife and kids. I wanted the biggest ones they had. Ordered from Running Board Warehouse. They were really great to work with.

I went with these and am happy with them. They took about 45 minutes to install and were pretty easy -- even for me. :)

I have basically the same truck as yours but it came with the OEM side-steps. Had it not come with them I was going to get a set of the Tyger ones someone else mentioned earlier.

My truck will be doing some light to moderate off-roading but I wanted the side-steps because it makes it easier for older members of my family to get in and out of the truck. Plus on my last 4x4 a set of stock side-steps kept me from rolling-over. So I’m a fan LOL

I have these ones and these work great! they do not eat up any clearance underneath and they definitely look like they take some rock abuse on the underside of them. Plus I guess my type of girl is the shorter ones and this is always a plus to them. I mainly use them to wipe mud off my boots when out hunting.
