I just tricked mine into quitting throwing the P0420. I was two months behind on my tags and didn't even notice until like a week ago. But I started throwing a cat below threshold 0420 code.
New Denso sensors, well like 2 years old. And I'm watching the live data and they seem to be reporting correctly, I think the cat is actually not catting enough.
So I throw in a quart of denatured alcohol with about half a tank, maybe 10 gallons of gas and I crack the seal on rear O2 sensor so some of the exhaust can leak out before being read by sensor(at least in my head that's what I was thinking I was accomplishing) and start driving around for my appointments first day and I have to reset a P0420 again. Second day I'm driving around and I check the monitors and the cat monitor completed! I was like wuuuuut??? Saweeeet. So I hurried up to get the tags done at Jiffy Lube. Those kids moved me in and out in 5 minutes  Locked and loaded, I mean fully registered:D and code has stayed off. I gotta see if code stays off after the denatured alcohol works its whole way through, when I'm back to straight dirty petrol.
