Wish I could find a Milwaukee half inch second hand. I will barely ever use it but would like to have one to change a flat on the side of the road if I need to.

 

You can pick the tool up pretty cheap on Amazon, or I found them on a killer sale at HD a while back which is why I have one.

 

I’m going to Home Depot Thursday to pick up my new husky box. Might check them out when I go.

It's the 3/8 not the half, but it would zip bolts on and off in a hurry and is a good price. You could also find the 1/2" "mid torque" model for around the same price. Wont offer 1400 lbft but how often do you use the full gorilla anyways?

Would it remove a lug nut?
Main thing I want one for is changing a tire. I travel a good distance weekly to maintain my grandmothers yard and don’t want to be changing a tire on the side of the road with a 4 way.

 

Lugs SHOULD only be torqued to like 83ish foot pounds, but from a tire chain, theyre def more. It'd do just fine I'd imagine.

 

Yeah all mine are put on with an impact at the tire shop. They do my rotations to. I’ll check them out when I go to Home Depot later this week

 

die hard dewalt fan. if its yellow i probably have it. That said, if my dad and i hadn't been using dewalt since the 18v stuff and the adapters to use the 20v batteries in the 18v stuff, we both said wed have made the switch to milwalkee. The different tools they have are miles ahead of everyone else. That said i still like my yellow stuff and will pickup some of the 12v milkwaukee stuff just for some of the smaller tools unless theres a yellow version soon.

Check out Home depot right now. They have both milwaukee and dewalt kits (impact, drill, light, circular saw, grinder, hacksaw and a few other with 3 or 4 batteries for 500 or so bucks, retail for around 1100 or so)

Just note those aren't the newer "Fuel" line, they are new old stock. The impact drivers were known for eating brushes pretty quick.

 

I too have had pretty bad experiences with DeWalt 20V! Used a 3Ah battery with a grinder to grind down 2, 3" long welds and it took about 45 minutes because the grinder would stop after about a minute of use. I would plug it in to charge in my truck and it would show it was too hot to charge. Had to blast the AC full blast on the charger/battery to cool it down. Luckily I had two batteries so I just kept swapping them out, charger, grinder, charger, etc. To be fair it was about 100 degrees, but later I used a

Milwaukee M18 grinder 5Ah battery in the same conditions continuously with no problems.

 

dewalt-not the best grinder but considering i got most of mine at 99 bare tools deals this is still a good entry level and upgrade as things wear out over the years.

as for the yellow stuff, i try to get the brushless stuff but do have some brushed older ones that are still going strong with over 5 years of wood work, metal work and car repairs. none of my stuff is babied and sad to admit but i have the greasy impact/drill for the car and the clean impact and drill for wood work. Only thing I've had go bad is batteries and thats from them getting old and not holding a charge. I find the 5am batteries work best and provided extra power for just a little more money but have plenty of 2amp ones as well

 

Home Depot ‘special buy’ online. Gotta check every once in a while. There’s an IG page called toolhoarder who posts deals as they come up. There were two other bundles, one with the tall standing light and one with two extra batteries, I opted for the blower since the Ryobi kit I was replacing had a blower I used often (handing down ryobi kit to my dad).

My vote for a cordless ecosystem is Milwaukee. Plumbing, construction, automotive, general. They cover it all.

 

Interesting to see how a DeWalt 5Ah battery would have done in that situation. The 3Ah batteries are ok for lights, radios, light drilling. But the 5Ah's shine in harder driven tools.

 

Can anyone recommend a replacement pool pump for my Coleman Walmart pool??
