He said this "I took it off right at 20,000 miles. I never take the truck off-road so they are in great shape. Upper control arms have 2000 miles on them. I swapped suspensions with my friends pro and didn’t bother taking my control arms off"

    So I should be good.

Yeah If it were me, I would try to buy just the shocks but the seller probably won't budge for it. I believe the upper control arms are identical to the ones on our 2nd gens. Maybe somebody can back me up on that, but I wouldn't worry about replacing those with his if you buy the whole set. And depending on if you get the headstrong AAL, it wouldn't hurt to put it on his set or your set.

I believe that both sets of leaf packs are the same on your 15 and the 3rd gen. So I wouldn't worry to much about that.

I finalized the purchase this afternoon, picked up the truck and then got notified that I am being laid off. What a day. I am going to see what I can get for my first-gen, but if it ain't enough, I might have to turn around and sell the bad boy.

Update: Found some new work and applied for unemployment in the interim. I have had both the trucks for about a month now and have been riding in them back to back. It feels absolutely illogical to get rid of a newer truck with half the mileage on it, but I am realizing I love that damned first gen and how it drives like a little car. I have a buyer lined up for Thursday for 13k flat for the first-gen, but I am hesitating. Someone slap some sense into me!

If you’re able to justify renting a truck for almost 2 k for less than 6 weeks sure sell the 13

    Edit :
NeverMind I can’t read. Sell the 1st gen and move on.

I trying to get myself to that decision, but Ithere. I payed 13,500 for the first-gen 6 years ago when I bought it with 60,000 miles on it. Taking out the costs of basic maintenance and few mods, I'd essentially have paid $500 for 70,000 miles and 6 years.

Update: The buyer has the loan, but I pushed the meeting back till next week. Not sure how worth it is to ask, but if I drive the old one until 200k miles (about 5 years from now), do you think I'll be able to draw a similar price with the 2004? Or is 13,000k a deal I should not turn down.

I’d take the 13k and be done. You still have to look at it as a 16 yr old truck that’s been in a wreck.

Ha, how do you know this? It was only a minor deer collision. Rationally and financially, I think it is obviously the right thing to do to sell it. But I've concluded after a month of driving them that preferentially, the first-gen takes the cake.

yeah, but it ain't exactly chump change and not a decision I want to screw the pooch on. It deserves deliberation IMHO.
