So, I have an 09 V6 with 128,150 miles on it. Started it this afternoon and heard a metal on metal sound. The closet thing I've heard that sounds like it is a belt.

The noise went away as the engine warmed up and there wasn't any noticable change in performance or MPG.

It's going to be serviced in 2 weeks anyways. I'm just curious if anyone has suggestions about what might be causing it.

Was it a squeal, squeak, or grinding noise?

    Squeal / whirl.

I had a brain fart on descriptive words when I posted.

I had already set up an appointment for oil change and tire rotation anyways and was hoping to have an idea of what else to expect.

I ran some errands and it only made the noise when I started it for the first time and only for a couple minutes and didn't cause the check engine light to come on.

I will try to get an audio clip tomorrow morning.

With out being there, my best guess is Idler/Tensioner/Belt.
