He was in it for 4 hours and wasn’t able to finish? Either he is SUPER new (been there) or he was SLAMMED and your truck was on the back burner. It’s literally 2 connectors and 1 splice lol. And they’re easy to get to.

I would definitely reach out to viper and see if they will help you get the programming finished up and get the quiet arm set and all that.

I don’t think he was to familiar with the ds4+ and he was really busy. I would have installed it myself but wanted warranty coverage. I’m not really mad at this point and I’m pretty patient when it comes to these types of things. I just hope he can figure it out on my next visit.

I have put in Racesport gen3 leds I'm the process of doing a custom audio overhaul which will include Hybrid audio unity 6x9 mid bass, unity 3 inch mid driver in the dash and fiberglassing tweets in pilar soundeading all the doors, floors, and headliner and I will be using a helix processor to retain the factory radio and as far as subs I might make custom brackets to move rear seat foward a few inches to get a full size sub in there or I might just go with a pair of jl tw5 or tw3 and it will all be powered by jl audio HD amps or I might try out the new hybrid amps
I agree a basic ds4 install should take 20-30 min with t harness. Although I have had issues were the shock sensors with the ds4su will not pair with the brain or the firmware will not load from phone! I’ve also had a few of there t-harness pinned wrong and not end up working. We also offer a stealth install were we take out time typically don’t use t harness and make the alarm as close to invisible as possible. I’ve had multiple techs and mechanics try to find the brain or follow the after market wiring and they can’t! And we charge a lot more for the jnstallz

Great insight. Was there a way to fix either of these issues?

Saga continues...so the shock tilt sensor was bad and needed to be replaced. This is what caused some of the issues previously. everything is close to working. Last two questions.

The unit now chirps several times. Once on arm, then two more times. Once about 5 seconds after arming and another solitaire chirp about 30 seconds later. I assume this is alerting that the hood, gbs, and shock tilt are all arming. Any experience hearing these?

Can the unit be put into silent arm mode permanently? He was unable to pair to the unit after trying for about an hour and we did have it working once before unplugging to swap out the shock sensor.

Finally got the install corrected by another Best Buy installer at a different location after a long Covid wait. Apparently the kid who did the original install wired all of the sensors in line and the unit had no idea how to arm them all.

the t harness was hacked to all hell and there where crimps all over it. Luckily all this was wired to the harness and not the factory stuff.

The new installer ran a new harness and rewired the sensors correctly. Glad to report it works perfectly.

Lesson learned here is make sure and drill down on how many DS4’s someone has installed. If you sense any confusion walk away and find another. Apparently the Best Buy appointment scheduling system is quirky and will send you all over the place and not the most capable installer.

Yeah it’s kind of unfortunate. I personally only installed the DS4. I never did a single compustar or any other viper system. But I had the competence to know what I knew and didn’t know, and I wouldn’t tackle a project I knew I could’ve install to my personal standards. That’s more than I can say for all the local shops in my area lol
