Yeah that seems high for a smaller single axle Airstream like that. I thought they were supposed to be very light due to the aluminum construction? I have a dual axle Apex Nano and it is ~4000 lb. dry and definitely looks bigger than your trailer there.

I use an E2 WDH with anti-sway that seems to handle it fine and keeps the sway down to a minimum. It's takes a bit to get up to speed and I usually stick around 60mph or so, but I've never felt unsafe about it.

But you should definitely stick to your comfort zone, so if you don't like it, then don't do it!

I'm just estimating from mfg spec, it definitely could be lighter.

I was using one of these, but not entirely sure the person who rented me the trailer had me set it up properly:
    https://andersenhitches.com/Catalog/andersen-nosway-weight-distribution-hitch.aspx

I definitely felt the weight of that thing pulling me around the road.

    AT Habitat, here I come.

Interesting. Those have a decent reputation in general, but are also known to not handle heavy weights as well as the tension bar setups.

I’m pretty sure they have a friction collar in the hitch setup that requires tongue weight to activate. It’s possible the trailer was tail heavy so a light tongue and not much tension in the chains. Who knows. :)

But you’re smart to be concerned about a setup that makes you uncomfortable, for whatever the reason.

I posted up on another thread but here is what I just towed from Salt Lake, to Livingston MT and back to Denver. It was a bit if a grind. I will do it again I am sure but next trip will use the 2001 Land Cruiser and see how she pulls it. Dry weight is 3500 lbs. I am sure it was closer to 4200 lbs when pulling.

    7MPG thru Wyoming, 8.5 thru Colorado's flats..

2015 Rpod 182g 3k dry, est 3800lb on this load. Plus DR 125 & 350 and generator and gear in bed. EST 900lbs. Pulled up Highway 49 in CA near Downieville to Camp just fine. EST 10 mpg. I’m on 33’s with 5.29’s and OVtune 2.0 91 octane tune. Also firestone bags were around 45psi and use an extended WDH to tow with the tailgate down.

this was the most loaded down I’ve been and it seemed to haul the load very well. Could even hold 5th gear at 55mph on the flat parts of interstate 80.

    Traded it in.
Gulf Stream Vintage Cruiser with WDH, about 3200 dry, guessing around 4K loaded. I've taken it from southern WI to Northern WI (about 3.5-4 hours) a few times with no issues. Truck says I get 9-10mpg.

Hello all, Im currently in the process of purchasing a new to me bass boat. I have the 2.7L engine in my tacoma, the boat and trailer will weigh in at around 2,400 lbs. I will be mainly towing an hour and a half (one way) with various terrain i.e medium mountains and hills with some high way mixed in. My question to you guys is should I install a trans cooler? If so what would you recommend? Also is there any additional sway bar support I can add? I'm new to the towing world. So forgive me if this is common sense for most. Thank you!

Maybe there was an issue with your setup? Tongue weight not correct?

I tow a toy hauler with larger sides than that and I only get a single side to side movement when a large truck passes. Were you running a friction sway stabilizer or any kind of sway stabilizer? I am also on two axles

Does anyone know a good ball and hitch kit that has all 3 different sizes on the hitch? I'm tired of always having the wrong ball size when I go to tow something!

Just pulled this home today. Towed way better than I expected. I believe it’s a 7x14.

Thanks! I’m pretty happy with it. I had a color matched silver 7x12 on order but every manufacturer seems to be backed up. I found this an hour away and the price was almost too good to be true. I'll deal with a darker silver for the $avings I got.

Yep exactly what I was going to post. Get the stainless steel set if you want it to not rust or corrode. But for some reason they still give you a non-stainless nut and washer so you have to contact their support to get those sent to you in stainless steel if you want it.

Here it is on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000AY9HO/

Here’s my submission. My dad built this trailer about 15 years ago and I believe it’s a 10x12. Hauled a load of cedar triangles I got for free through a buddies work
