Wow, I thought I did good, but not like some here.
Anyways, '08 DCSB, MT, SR5, 171k km, used from the dealer, some dents and scratches, $13k. 4 1/2 years later, 80k km + new frame, shocks and tires later and I "total" it.
Frame was good, just body damage. Insurance gives me $18k for it.
Then I find this beauty for $16.5k.
    2012 218k km.

That is a good deal. I bought my truck in February. 2015 TRD Sport DCLB V6 4x4 AT, in certified condition with 31k miles, for $26k. In hindsight, I probably would've gotten a better deal after all this coronavirus shit kicked off. My crystal ball doesn't work as well as it used to, but I'm not upset at all.

Yea I am 95% sure the dealer mis-priced it. The book value was $28k. Their website had it listed as a "BASE" and I think they just messed up the VIN when they did the pricing.

I definitely hit the bottom of the market with coronavirus, because shortly after prices started to go back up because the market dried up with vehicles due to lack of production.

Sold at the auction for $1600. I would've bought it back if I was allowed, but the auctions here are for licensed dealers only.
Drove it for over a week till they came and got it.

Thats a good point. I will do a compression test. I guess it had been overheating and the previous owner replaced the thermostat and radiator to no avail. Still I will do a compression test. Could be a screamin deal.

I am already doing all the research to do the job. Almost looking forward to it. :D

I must have gotten screwed. Paid over $30,000 for my 2010.

But that was 10 years ago when it was brand new. Love it even more today!

Nothing other than rear bumper hit a pole and made the tailgate catch on the bed liner, easy fix with a come-along and an oak tree. Minor blemishes (adds character), interior is mint. Previous owner, good friend, really took great care of it and had it serviced professionally. It was pretty much stock except for one piece tonneau cover and nerf bars. Recently completed the transformation.

Sometimes cheap cars turn out to be the expensive ones :anonymous:

Time will tell. If you have to put some bucks into it at least your putting money into a Toyota and not some other overpriced pos

I bought my 2015 DCLB SR5 brand new for $32,000 at Toyota of Seattle. I bought it late in the year and they only had four 2nd gens left, I got the last DCLB. I walked by row after row of shiny new 3rd gens, I knew what i wanted.. truck has been great, its got over 115,000 miles now. I've never been stranded, never had it no-start on me, no check engine lights or anything.

I fix cars for a living, at the end of a long day fixing other people's crap I don't want to work on my own rig. Its my daily and I need it to start and be reliable.

@b_r_o, that's exactly why lots of us "normal types" buy Toyotas. Nothing wrong with that motivation.

I got my 2008 TRD off road for $13,000 with 80,000 miles on it with one previous owner. (I got it at the dealer I work at with my employee discount) we had it listed for $18,000. I had three equirements when I was looking for my truck. I wanted 4x4, the factory rear locker and the full size bed. So I lucked out one got traded in.
