Hey guys. Still traveling across the country. Its leaking between the transfer case and trans. The last owenrs stripped amd chiseled the transfer case fill bolt and it looks jb welded. I toredto pound a socket on and even tried chiseling with flat head and small sledge and its not moving.

Is there another to fill the transfer case? Through a sensor or something?thanks

Which transmission, what style of transfer case? pushbutton, manual?

It could also be the back of the transmission leaking - what kind of fluid is leaking out?

it MAY be possible to fill at the j-shifter area through the floorpan, but don't quote me on that, i recall somebody filling their transmission through there once awhile ago

Yes, they both take 75w90 but trans takes GL4 and transfer case GL5.

Pretty sure you can fill it through the shifter, but you won't be able to tell how much fluid is in there and you can easily overfill the transfer case.

With the manual shift case you should be able to remove the shifter and fill it from the top.

I have done this for the manual transmission and older Toyota gear driven cases.I have not tried it with the chain driven Tacoma case but I expect it should work the same.
