    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
And Ubolt flip, and frame boxing, and frame reinforcement plates, and super bumps.

And I have another idea... while the bed is off... if I have time.

One side reinforcement plate is fully burned on. On to the passenger side.

On advice of another member I’m posting this up here as well the supercharger thread. Thinking there are more eyes here.

I recently acquired a gen 1 supercharger that SUPPOSEDLY has been rebuilt and only has 25 miles on it. The guy seemed nice and didn’t give me any reason to doubt him, however for something like this I think the saying “trust but verify” is a good idea.

I first started by looking closer at the pulley, when I did I noticed there was some oil build up from a slight seep around the seal. I stupidly didn’t take a photo before I gave it a wipe down, but here is what the seal looked like. It appears to be the updated seal, which tells me it HAS had a rebuild, but tells me little more than that..

Then I took the nosecone section off and got eyes on the oil. One would suspect if it only had 25 miles on it that the oil would be pristine. It was not. It wasn’t terrible, but it was definitely brown, and had a bit of metallic flickering going on. Certainly didn’t look like just 25 miles on it to me. (Take the pan shot with a grain of salt, I’ve done quite a few fluid changes lately, it was wiped out, but not completely cleaned with solvent or anything).

I then pulled the rotor pack out. I was happy to find a good solid coating still covering the rotors, which further confused me on whether or not this unit did indeed have a fresh rebuild.

Then I cleaned everything up so I could get a better look at surfaces. I must admit, I don’t really know what constitutes acceptable or not; hopefully some of your eyes can guide me here.

I put it all back together just hand tight and with no oil, sat it down level and spun it a bit slowly, nothing seemed out of order to me, spun freely without any inconsistencies.

So in summary. Seal, newer type, but slightly seeping. Oil, not fresh. Rotors good and coated. Surfaces ???. Spins freely. I’m no closer to knowing how fresh this rebuild is other than thinking it was NOT done 25 miles ago (would the oil look like that if it was simply sitting for a long time?).

What do you all think? Is there something else I should look at in there and get pictures of that would help make a better decision to run this or send it off? Would you run it, or would you send it in?

I have a set of these plates but haven’t welded them in yet,

What did you do for rust protection on the other back side that’s welded to the frame?

I’m not sure what to do if there’s anything to do

Nothing to do at all if you can weld well. If you can't, well then you pray. Can also use some weld through primer, but most folks don't even know it's a thing

So welding it up done correctly will seal the area In between I guessing from any air or rust issues ?
