    I run a lifted 07 DCLB (v6) Taco now.
Thinking about a move up to a Tundra for the added towing capacity.
What gen/year should I be looking at?

    Thanks!

I went from my 2015 TRD Sport Taco to my 2018 TRD Off Road Tundra. I did the 2018 because it was the last year of the inferno and had the updated LED headlights and fancier dash (2018+). Also upgraded for the towing and it hasnt disappointed. Rides a million times better and way more room to haul stuff. Absolutely love my Tundra, would never go back honestly.
My husband has a first gen Tundra (2003) and still loves the shit out of it 300k miles in. All depends on what you prefer..

Anything 14 plus in a tundra, I’m partial to the limited edition and will be getting an 18 or new just for the safety features and adaptive cruise.

Why did you make that move? I hope to move to Tundra in few years from my current 2016 DCLB Taco for roomier interior and more power.

I own an 07 Tundra Limited and an 09 Taco AC. I love the Tundra much more due to the size and comfort. The Limited is pretty much a luxury vehicle. We own 2 Lexus Gx470’s as well, and though the Lexus is smoother overall, the Tundra isn’t far behind. And the one thing it has over everything for road trips is SPACE. 4 can sit in absolute comfort with gobs of legroom, AND we can bring all the luggage we want in back.

That being said, I use my Taco more for day to day driving since I work in a downtown area-and the Taco is much easier to park on our small parking lot. That and I like driving stick.

Full size is hard to beat for real truck duty. I looked hard at Tundras, was sold on a MGM 2020 Pro and it was just out of the budget and they refused to do any negotiating. They are sweet trucks.

Just wish there was a switch to turn off the TSS, instead of a bunch of hoops to jump through ... EVERY time you start the truck.

2018 was the first year of TSS in the tundra.
Otherwise, aside from little things here and there (gauge cluster update, CarPlay, etc.) the 2014-2021 are essentially exactly the same.

    Good luck on the hunt!

I have a 2018. It was the first year of the led headlights, has the gauge facelift, the TSS, and it was the last year of the transmission coolers apparently. Theres days of threads on the Tundra forums about it so something to bear in mind if you wanna tow, although they do offer kits to add one.

The idea of moving up to a Tundra has weighed vaguely on my mind every since I realized our “new” boat of about 18 months or so adds up to about 5500 lbs total with everything. The thought also crosses my mind every time my kids grow another inch taller.

But I love the Taco. Love that it’s paid off, fits in most any parking space, gets decent mileage compared to a Tundra, fits in my garage with my wife’s car in a pinch, and is a nice size for trails. And we only tow the boat locally, 10 mins to the ramp.

Owning a larger truck means everything about it just got more expensive.

For now I’ll just enjoy oogling other peoples’ Tundras and imagining the leg room in back.

Just heard that the 2022 tundra with v6 turbo will require at least 91 octane
