New to the Forum. After trading in my 2018 4x2 sport I’m interested to see what other think of my deal...already done so it is what it is, but still would like to know if I got a decent deal.
Tacoma 4x4 off road trim with basic premium upgrade package. Pics of options included out the door $37k flat. Thoughts?

    Welcome to Tacoma World!

You paid for the truck + taxes and fees at the MSRP of the truck but none of the upgrades? Seems like a good deal to me.

I am assuming that $37k was the price of the new truck BEFORE trade in.

    Otherwise... Oh shit.

Had a 18‘ sport 4x2 with 52k miles traded in for +$3500 after pay off. $37k was everything out the door. Wanted something I can put 300k miles on and be happy with for next 10 years.

Welcome to TW. What's the purpose of this question if you already did the deal? Really the only two possible outcomes are
A): you continue to enjoy the truck worry free
    Or
B): you will have the constant sting of regret for the next 60 bill cycles.

I humbly suggest you ignore your own thread and just go enjoy the truck.:burnrubber:

    Edit- nice truck.

Since it’s the 2nd new buy I’ve every made I want to see where I stand. Can’t get better at negotiating or just over all knowledge of buying if you don’t learn about what you did wrong and right.

happy with the truck. Hope to have in around for a while but good bad or other I’d like to know.

Looks like a really nice truck. Jealous of that sunroof.

I hope it provides you with a lifetime of reliability and smiles per gallon. :)

Fair enough. My personal opinion is twofold:

One- however much you're getting over your debt in the trade is meaningless. The number that really matters is the buyback value, and whether that's comparable to your local market. It's good that you are looking at the OTD price, but don't let them sucker you on the trade, or the finance games for that matter.

Two- this likely would have been an average-to-decent deal in a healthy economy. In an uncertain/unhealthy economic cycle, like the one we are just now starting to enter, you could have done much better. Patience is your friend in these times. By this summer, odds are likely that it's going to be a buyer's market.

worst case I’ll let another Tacoma owner know I got taken and hope the buy the first round...make it up $5 at a time. Love the truck and I drive a lot for work hoping to be able to take it out to big bend and spots now that I have 4x4 for a jam. It’s all leaning for me. I’m sure now I’m on here I’ll take in even more.

Right on, I'm really trying to convince the GF that she needs to see the Terlingua chili fest this year.

And again, welcome. It's a great learning resource here. Beware of the constant stream of posts that list that "one extra thing" you'll need to enjoy your truck, haha. This place will put a hurting on your wallet.
