Hello all, I've been doing some reading looking for the right suspension setup for my truck. I have a 17 DCSD OR. Only mods are a ARE DCU commercial aluminum cap, 265/75r16s, 5.29 regear, ovtune and AFE y-pipe (for clearance). I have a 70 mile round trip to work a few days a week and very frequently travel from CT to upstate VT to a cabin. I originally was looking into a dobinson's setup with a 3 leaf add a leaf in the rear with timbrens. Overall goal is 1.5-2" in the front and 1.5" in the rear. I will eventually being doing a SSO winch bumper, skid plates and sliders. I don't have any intentions of high speed prerunning, but I spend alot of time in the woods and the roads in new england suck. Prior to this I came from an 05 power wagon with a carli pin top bilstein 7100 setup that while nice was way overkill for what I needed. In doing research into the dobinson's (couldn't find alot of feedback on ride quality) I started down the wormhole of entry level coilovers instead. Looked at the bilstein 6112s but didnt want the hassle of having to change the spring to heavier spring when I load the truck with armor, and I had some issues with my 7100's leaking so I'm not a huge billy fan. Then I looked into the fox 2.0s but they don't seem to offer the height I'm looking for on a 3rd gen. I don't think my use warrants the jump to a 2.5" bodied shock, so I looked into the Elka 2.0 offerings. In doing some research I found some interesting similarities between the elka, radflo, and toytec aluma offerings.

    Elka: https://www.headstrongoffroad.com/s...s_and_Add-a-leaf_for_2005__Toyota_Tacoma.html

    Toytec: Radflo: https://www.radflo.com/i-133-2-0-fr...ta-tundra-oe-replacement.html?ref=category:38

They all appear to be basically the same unit, minus some differences. The radflos appear to use a bearing mount for the LCA which might be why I see people on the 4R forums complain about a bang vs the elka and toytec using a rubberized bushing. If that's the case are these a solid alternative to the fox 2.0's? they have a 700lb spring and the ride height im looking for. Anyone with some insight would be appreciated.

    Thanks fellas

Good post. Going through the same decision currently between radflo and Elka. Leaning towards the 2.5 w/o reservoir with 650 springs. I can't find a negative on the Elka coilovers besides the shaft diameter at 3/4". Still personally I think the setup is built well enough to handle all of my needs. Bout to order now.

I have Radflos coming in customed tuned by them specifically for my truck set up. However, mine is going to be "mid/extended travel" 650 coils 2.5 w/ compression adj. + resi I choose Radflo because I know a lot of hill assault buggies and rock bouncers (There is a local shop in my area that makes them) and they use Radflo. They also custom tune the valving for you free of charge (takes a while to get in though since they build to order so you can change springs out as well).

I currently have the 6112/5160 Bilstein setup that I am swapping out.

Late to respond here. I’ve been running Radflo 2.5 w/Resi for awhile now. Love em. I did get clickers for the fronts. When I have the rears rebuilt going clickers.
Radflo are worth it. Plus being US based. Easier to get replacement parts and service.

    wanna be mods
OP I just came into the SSO Stage 1+2 bumper and a week later my Elka 2.5 DSC arrived...little different setup (build thread link in signature/profile). Screenshot_20200716-201531_Gallery.jpg I went with the 700# spring that Elka designed them around. I did they only knowing/planning full trio of steel skids, had bolt on Mobtown sliders and upgraded to Dobinsons heavy leaf springs...not that the 66-70# extra weight of the hybrid bumper makes any difference, at least until a winch is installed...the trucks been on 3in spacer from the dealer (used to be 1 in block in rear).

I did look into radflo and ADS, but aluminium body and resi for heat dissipation and corrosion resistance went Elka.

Snapped a pic while the right side was on the floor for inspection the other night.

Haven't installed them yet, hoping within the next week.
