Hello TW, I’ve always wanted a Toyota Tacoma and an opportunity to buy one finally came around!

As some background I’ve had a tendency of buying reliable daily drivers and turning them into fun project cars, most recently a Subaru STI, Audi S4, and Jeep JK Rubicon on 37s.

With that in mind the main goal for this truck is reliability as a dedicated daily driver I plan to keep long term, while also being capable with some mild off-roading.

Looking back at June 1, the day I picked up my 2006 TRD OR

Started off with hours of cleaning the truck with my dad and grandpa followed by some very basic upgrades. Polished the headlights and fog lights, painted the grill surround black, replaced the pitted front bumper cover with a brand new take off in matching Black Sand Pearl, and replaced the rusted out rear bumper with one I bedlined within the first couple days. My favourite mod thus far was the Deuce roll up tonneau cover that can flip backward for easy access to cargo in the front of the bed.

Purchased an AirBedz mattress that fits around the wheel wells in the bed and Napier truck tent. Girlfriend approves!

Picked up some new King 2.5 coilovers and shocks with remote reservoirs front and rear.

Unbelievably high quality craftsmanship, it’s like they should be displayed on my wall.

Waiting on some other suspension pieces before the lift can be installed.

Put on a different set of wheels and was super happy with how quiet they were on the road. Found someone who really wanted them so they weren’t on the truck very long.

Rims: 17x9 Fuel Hostages (without caps)
    Tires: Cooper Discoverer AT3’s 265/70/17
    Suspension: Still completely stock

Picked up another set of wheels. A bit more aggressive tread pattern but still super quiet on the road.

Rims: 17” OEM Toyota TRD 2016+
    Tires: Cooper ST MAXX 265/70/17
    Suspension: Still stock...

Went with OEM Toyota parts for the 12-15 facelift conversion. Had Maple Toyota paint the parts in Black Sand Pearl and it looks like a perfect match.

Extremely easy install swapping out brackets and the old hood latch was reused without any issue. Hood bolted right on and did not need any adjustments for the gaps. Blacked out headlights from DNA and the painted grill surround really bring it all together.

Got the Icon UCAs and King 2.5 coilovers installed. Took quite a while but it was a smooth install 7D7F46A5-F491-4A75-8D12-8EF02F8DA635.jpg 7A77195C-3770-45BB-9C49-B5446A06520E.jpg

Very happy with how the truck is sitting but may still lift it a bit higher when I do the rear.

Nice job!!! Looks like quality work with quality parts. What ya doing with the rear suspension? The rear leafs suck on these and I don’t think the recall sprints are any better. A 3 leaf aal is a huge improvement for the factory leafs.

Thank you I appreciate it! I have an Icon 1.5” AAL and 1” aluminum lift blocks sitting at home, still debating what to use when I install the rear shocks. Also stuck on the idea of using a u-bolt flip kit or just sticking with longer u-bolts.

Put on some 1.25” Spidertrax spacers with the stock 16” wheels. Have a set of new tires waiting to go on but having some delays getting the rims I’d like
