That looks like an easier way! Did you use some kind of pump to get it back, or is there enough "suction" to pull the new liquid in from let's say a bucket ? How much did you use ?

I used Valvoline MaxLife, and I’m very happy with it’s performance. You can pick up 1 gallon jugs at Walmart for about $17-18. If you want the WS, shop around, start with you Toyota dealer which surprisingly may be the cheapest, mine usually is, my dealer is selling it for $8.18 a quart. Amazon is selling it for $55.88 for a 6 quart pack: Toyota 00289-ATFWS Automatic Transmission Fluid, 192 Ounces, 6 Pack www dot amazon dot com/dp/B07BZ2HZ6W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_0iGfFb4JA7HHA

I used what @spitdog referenced. I did about a gallon at a time. After pumping pressure into the sprayer I ran the truck to pump old fluid out until I started to see air in the fluid. Turned it off, repeat until done. I over-did it and used about 4 gallons/16 quarts. But I also did a pan drop first so needed to put back on the same amount of fluid first before flushing.

I did a complete flush in my 2015 Tacoma few weeks ago. I used 13 quarts. Was a big success, everything went smoothly.

Next time I do this I want to buy some sort of electric transfer pump.

Anyone know of a good 12v electric transfer pump?

Little this. Little that 4x4 Swap’d PreRunner
Anyone able to point me in the direction on what would need to be done if installing a new trans? Same steps? Or rather would anything change?

doing a 4x4 swap and the last part (trans/xfer case) install is next. Hoping to have a good road map in my head before I tear into it. Thanks!

The pump sprayer is a no brainer. Cheap and simple, and works good. Way better than hand pump.

You guys are all wrong about pumps...a penis pump works the best in this situation.

Great write up. I am getting ready to have a go at this on my 2009 Sport with 100k miles. I also have a new filter to go in. But the real motivation for me is that I also need to replace a rusted out trans cooler line... the trans inlet hard line at the tranny. I have those coming today... and I need to inspect the other cooler hard lines which will be easy when I get in there to do the flush. Leaking tube shown below and again with my temporary patch.

Just did a full flush with 13 quarts, didn't even touch the hand pump I bought. The sprayer method worked like a charm. I can't imagine trying to pump 13 quarts by hand...

When I did mine the color was closer to the new color than the old color after 100,000+ miles.

Mine original ATF looked really clean and good color also when I flushed it a couple weeks ago with 99,000 miles.

What size hoses/attachments did you use with the sprayer method, I’m ordering the sprayer now and might as well get the hoses and fittings too.

    Damn good question.
IIRC Pretty sure I used 3/8 ID tubing. No fitting needed on the sprayer end, I was able to just remove the straw wand from the sprayer and shove the tubing on. Then the tubing slid right onto the metal input line.
The other line (which went into the container with old fluid) was a 3/8x3/8 barb from the discharge of the cooler so that got flushes by the trans pump too.
