First prepare to be unimpressed by this write-up. This is my first and I don't usually do that good of a job documenting the progress. I had quite a few request, but just about everything I did has already been documented and done here on Tacoma World before. The only novel idea I came up with was utilizing 14WB instead of 14WA calipers, more to follow below.

Pics to come as well as I sort through them. Before starting into this mod or wondering the difference between these systems and years, this is where I found the majority of info.

    1. First, stepping up from the 14WG calipers to 14WA or WB requires moving more fluid due to larger pistons. This on top of a rear disc conversion utilizing SOS Performance kit brackets necessitated a larger Tundra master cylinder bore and I also chose to utilize a Tundra vacuum double diaphragm up from a Tacoma single. Below you can see some pics swapping between the boosters. The Tundra/Sequoia booster is much thicker but has a shorter throw and much stiffer spring. I went to find a coupler to extend the rod but wrong thread pitch, so I welded two nuts together and extended the Tundra booster to 150mm the same as Tacoma. You have to swap over the Tacoma fork on the end.

    2. The front calipers are very straight forward, just pull off your 14WG and then add on 14WA or 14WB. The only difference between the two are the mounting bolt cast sizes. 14WA utilizes the same M12 bolts whereas, the 14WB stepped up to an M14 bolt. To solve this issue, I simply found a piece of aluminum tubing with a 12mm ID and 14mm OD then cut sleeves for each mounting bolt so that I wouldn't have to use Tundra spindles or retap my Tacoma spindles. Most people only look for and use 14WA with M12 mounting bolts, but I think this is a very easy setup. I can even cut a set and ship if someone is interested just let me know.

    3. Unless you want to purchase dust shields from a 2010+ 4Runner (roughly 75 each) you can just trim and/or bend yours back. I chose to trim mine back. No other fitment secrets. Bolt up and bleed. Here are pics of trimming to fit the larger rotors, you can see roughly how much I cut.

    4. If you do change your master cylinder then you will need to actuate the ABS pump in order to get all the air out. I used a vacuum bleeder and went though a couple bottles of fluid, but still used an Amazon version of Techstream to actuate the pump. It is the highest point in the system and you are opening the line on both sides of it so logically that is where air will gather. You will get an ABS, Traction Control and Parking Brake light on the dash when the sensor in the pump detects the air. There won't be any codes though. It also takes a couple miles to manifest itself and shake loose.

    5. The rear kit from SOS Performance is outstanding with or without parking brake option. No, you cannot buy the without kit and later add the parking brake option. They are completely different backing plates. I have mounted and used both. You can mount up any 14BD calipers (2010+ 4Runner or GX460). I simply got lucky and found a wrecked 2019 GX 460 and took all four corners with practically brand new pads to put on my truck.

@STrooper come on by apex and we can get it knocked out if this doesn’t help.

    Thanks for this post!!

Just ordered some brand new callipers from the stealership and 14WB came, was trying to get 14WA. Need brakes in a bad way, think this is something I should return/exchange for the 14WA (will take another week) for safety reasons and take the restocking fee on the chin?

Or is the sleeve really the only difference, and do you not feel that it is a safety issue to not have the full thread in the hardware?

(obviously not expecting you to tell me its safe and if I should trust with my life but, just your opinion would be greatly appreciated.)
