The bolts that came with my roof rack were supposedly stainless, and annoyingly chrome on a black rack, but after being on the truck for a year they are all beginning to show rust. Does anyone have a good source for stainless steel black oxide bolts that don't cost a ridiculous amount of money?

I've used fastenal for some strange screws and bolts in the past.

Look for black zinc plated or black phosphate coated. I’ve had much better luck with them than with black oxide.

Cut & broke off some stuff.
Tractor supply has best prices I've found for bolts. Sold by the pound instead of per piece.
If it is not metric, get the "grade 8" with gold coating. The gold zinc is best I've found for preventing rust. Hit em with black rattle can. They have stainless too and again, just rattle can it black.

edit: tractor supply has the black phosphate too usually.

If you do decide to paint them, its easy to get a piece of scrap cardboard, push all the bolts through so the bolt heads are about 1/2" from the surface of the cardboard and go at it with the paint.

    Bone f’n stock for now
I second McMaster Carr after scrounging through fastenal, tsc, and ace they didn’t have enough or were too pricey. 1 day wait and less than half the cost of a box store I had everything for my fenders.

What size of bolt do you need?
