I removed the plug by the ignition to remove the annoying key chime noise, which worked, but now on the center display panel I am noticing a constant blinking red light with Key symbol, and it seems to keep blinking even when the truck is off, doors locked, so it seems like it will kill the battery, is this normal , has anyone else seen this?

It's the Engine Immobilizer System, Toyotas anti-theft system once you insert the key into the ignition the transponder on the key sends a signal to the system to shut off allowing you to turn on the engine. Without the right key to match the signal the engine wont turn on. It turns on automatically after you remove the key.

Oh Ok, was this always there and I just never noticed it? Just seems like I started noticing it after I did the Key chime mod... So that light always blinks 24/7 when the key is removed? Seems like that would kill the battery.

AFAIK, yep turns off when key is inserted and chip in key signals it to turn off. Was always there, kind of threw me when I first noticed it too.

What they said. My wife's 2014 Rav4 has the same technology and works just like you described, completely stock..so it isn't anything to do with what you recently did. It hasn't ever given us an issue with draining the battery and with recent events it sits routinely 2-3 days at a time
