I've searched around a lot on this but I'm still not really confident on what I've found, a lot of it seems contradictory. My head unit is going out so I need a replacement that hopefully doesn't break the bank. Are there any that fit in the OEM location without cutting my dash up and will display the OEM backup camera? Steering wheel control integration would be nice but it's not necessary.

    Thanks in advance!

Theres PLENTY out there. including dash kits that fit perfectly. In terms of steering wheel controls you'll need a module for it, but they aren't expensive. In terms of back up cameras, if you plan on installing an aftermarket camera, then its plug and play. If you plan on using the factory camera (in the rear view mirror) there's a way to get it to work on the screen by tapping a wire in the left side of the brake peddle

Thanks! On mine the backup camera display is in the head unit, not the mirror, hence my confusion. Virtually every guide I find assumes it's in the mirror.

I haven’t gone this route but from what I read here, Crutchfield can be a helpful resource.

I agree, Crutchfield sets you up pretty nice with everything you need. I usually go through them when I get my stuff. They have the harnesses and dash kits needed to install a new head unit. Just need to find one that fits your budget and wants.

I've been looking for a long time for my truck, but I haven't justified the purchase yet. Primarily because my unit isn't broken and my music sounds fine. I've upgraded my speakers and added a sub.

Thanks for the advice, will definitely check out Crutchfield. I hadn't heard of dash kits but after looking around that seems to be exactly what I was missing.

I have a Kenwood, and with a Maestro interface module and a wiring harness adapter everything works, backup cam on head unit, and steering wheel controls no problem. No cutting or hacking, just buy a $10 Metra dash adapter. Like others have said, Crutchfield can figure out everything you need.
