My 2015 has rust spots caused by “micro stone chips” around the windows. i’m having the spots fixed soon and want to protect them from this happening in the future. Has anyone else tried using 3m tape to protect them? (or something similar). Anyone have pictures, templates or heard of a pre-cut option?

that’s why i used “”, i fought hard with 2 dealerships and contacted toyota canada directly and couldn’t get them to help me fix it. they claim it’s from rocks because it’s only on the leading edge of the windows. saw other threads where ppl had luck getting toyota to cover it and others with same result as mine. anyways looking to protect the paint- any help is appreciated

If I had this issue I would try ceramic coating the area, after removing the rust. I consider it similar to a clear coat. The brand I use is CarPro.

You can buy strips of 3m clear bra and cut and apply to it. I've seen some other 2nd gens wrap that section in black, to look like 3rd gens too.

The clear plastic has to be replaced every couple years. If not, the plastic will bond to the paint and look worst.
