    Hello everyone!

I have the chance to buy some FJ cruiser 17 inch wheels for a really good price. I have a 2018 Off-Road and everything I can read says they should fit. Is there any reason not to make the jump to bigger wheels?

    Thanks for your help!

I’d do it. The only downside is your speedo and Odometer will be off a little. I run 16” Wheels from an ‘08 FJ on my T100. At highway speeds the speedo reads slow by 7ish MPH’s.

I'm running FJ Steelies 17" on mine with no problem.

Going up to 17 inch wheels to a +1 tire actually improved my mph. I was told by a dyno operator that checks and calibrates speedometers for a living that typical factory calibrations are +/- 5% of error.

Is there anyway to change the settings for a 17 inch wheel?

You may not need to change anything.

When I put 2012 FJ Cruiser Trail Edition wheels onto my 2003 TRD OffRoad and bumped up to 32" tires, my speedometer is now about correct. Before with 31" tires, the speedometer was showing higher than actual speed ~62 when going 60mph.

Did the FJ wheels come with tires? Seems like it may not be a good deal unless it did.

If you are running 265x70x16s on your OR and mount 265x65x17 on the FJ wheels there should be no adjustment needed. Those wheel/tire combos are the same diameter.

as already said, the wheels do nothing to the speedometer
its the tire circumference that matters
do they come with tires? if yes, what size?

Thanks for all of the information. Its very helpful. Two of the wheels have tires. I will check on the size.

    Thanks again.

To answer your initial question, tire selection is better for 17 inch wheels than for 16s.

Once you decide on tire size you can use the tire size calculator to determine how far off you might be in your speedometer keeping in mind the factory calibration can be +/- 5% compared to GPS.
