The original KB Voodoo side panel where I had my MaxTrax mounted finally gave up the ghost after a few thousand miles of logging roads. Fabbed up a new side panel out of 1" x 1/8" angle iron just to size to fit the MaxTrax mounts. We'll see how long that lasts :D

I kept my mounting system stupid simple. When needed, they're easily accessible from either side of the vehicle. Used the tie-down rings that came with the Prinsu rack. These appear to be the older ones, as the rings that came with my cap rack are smaller and wouldn't work. Straps are RollerCam straps, and are some of the best I've used.

And this was 30 minutes or so after needing to use them...

BTW, MaxTrax, or traction boards in general are great! Definitely saved my butt.

    Nice.

I guess I should update my mounting solution for the trails. I figured moving them off the roof while off-road, might be a little easier.

I picked up some Rok straps for the spare on the swingout:

Carrying one X-Bull board at a time mounted to the front bed rail to save space. The mounts that come with the boards were easily modified to fit the factory rail. Just needed to grind a little off the washers so they would fit inside the T channel. Cut the bolts down to an appropriate length. Using some electrical tape for a bushing, the metal ones that come with are junk. And slightly modifying the plastic plate to hold the board in place by cutting them in half (since I'm only using one bolt on each side) and drilling holes into them so they fit over the lugs.
The board fits perfectly under my tonneau cover and if someone does decide to steal it out of my bed I'm only out $30, which is a price I can live with.

Where did you buy your xbulls? Mine didn’t come with any mounting hardware.

I got them on Amazon, the $75 ones come with a bag and mounts and the $60 ones are just the boards.
You could make the mounts yourself with a trip to a hardware store, though it would take some work to get all the right parts.

    Interior, mud flaps, tail gate,
RCI bed rack with RCI Maxtrax mounts. I have the Maxtrax mounting pins on those. Rock solid. Very happy.

Anyone know of a way to mount the boards to the side of the spare tire on the swing out so it’s not in the way of the trash bag? I know I can put the bag there still with the boards on the outer face of the tire but it will be in the way of the flap. Only things I have found so far are Jeep mounts that use the hinges of their rear gate.

You might be able to add a carriage bolt with a T-handle nut to the bracket, but you'll probably need to drill new holes in the maxtrack. Or you might even try a (ratchet) strap like below, but on the sides of the tire :notsure:

Here's my temporary solution. Cost $16 even plus tax at home Depot.
All hardware is stainless (tried it with 3/8", but they didn't lock in the side rails very good).

    2 - .5" x 3.5" Carriage Bolts
    2 - .5" hex nut
    4 - .5" flat washer
4 - .5" locking washer (wish they would have had nylon locking in .5")
    2 - .5" wing nut

Not certain this will work for you short beds, but worth a shot.
