I had to quit pre-workout and only have a little caffeine in the AM. It was fucking up my sleep badddddddd. Plus all that caffeine before lifts was causing me to get really light headed on heavy log cleans.

Now I'm just using Karbolyn as my intra workout and taking beet root before lifting for a pump. Feels good man.

I still brew my own pre. I add 200mg of caffiene and I usually drink it right as I’m walking out to lift. I spend about 10min on the treadmill and 10min or so dicking around on the foam roller or stretching with bands so it’s ~20min before my first set. Pump is good when I’m carbed up, otherwise I’m flat.

As far as kick, with a newborn I get about 4-5 hours of sleep per night so it’s pretty useless. I chase it with a monster or reign some days but the only thing extra caffeine does for me anymore is increases my anxiety and stress instead of actually giving me usable energy. This time last year if I drank any amount of caffiene after like 2pm I’d be up all night long. Now I can chug a reign and go right to sleep #dadlife

Is it worth it to try a stim free preworkout?

Due to my BP issues I gotta watch my caffiene intake.

    This month I had a 150/100 day

Same. I’ll never fucking sleep with caffeine in the afternoon.

Are you still dealing with intermittent high bp?

Idfk lol my wrist monitor that I checked against the Dr's reading consistently reads 116/72 ish when I'm home and relaxed. However, my arm cuff reads 140+ and at the Dr my BP is always elevated.

Dr said it's likely stress and white coat syndrome but it still bugs me

The majority of time I’m 100-110/60-70. A nice low BP.

But every now and then I hit 140-150/100. I can feel it when it happens.

Mine is totally stress/anxiety. I think my anxiety triggers the BP which sets off more anxiety then I get into a horrible cycle.

I have my annual appt coming up and I’m wondering if its time to start talking beta blockers I take only as needed. I am worried though how long they stay working. I don’t want anything to fuck up my workouts. But at the same time I struggle managing symptoms when they happen.

My thyroid numbers are doing great though. I’m within normal range for once. I figured that would help the anxiety/BP but fucking corona virus got me all :goingcrazy:

I can take Hyde, lift, and then swim, shower, sleep. Starting around 10pm.

Sure you can fall asleep but how restful is your sleep? That was my issue. I'd take pre-workout around 330 then take melatonin at 10 to fall asleep. If fall asleep in a decent time but wake up multiple times and never have nice restful sleep

I'd get about 6-7 hours in and not wake up. Always been a night owl anyways

When I was lifting in the evening (7pm or so) id take a 10mg melatonin and a Benadryl around 9pm and be knocked out.

Most people told me that made them drowsy, but YMMV.

Y’all are missing the point @Travish325 is making. You can sleep 8 hours and it not be good sleep. Caffeine, alcohol, even eating too close to sleeping all greatly affect the quality of sleep you get. I can drink an espresso right before bed and sleep through the night, but I’ll still wake up tired from not having a quality nights sleep

    Yerp.

I quit caffeine and melatonin. I take a little L-theanine 1 hour before bed put my CPAP on and sleep amazing now. It has really helped with recovery and getting quality rest.

Had to look up what a CPAP was, apparently I’ve entered the matrix

It takes about... not lying... 50mg of melatonin to knock me out. Then I’m a zombie for two days.

    I hate that shit.

    Exactly.

I started wearing my running watch to bed, and not that its going to be the most perfect sleep measurement device, some nights I sleep 10 hours but only get 30 minutes of actual deep sleep.

Less is more with melatonin. I take 1mg 2 hours before bed and I sleep like a rock
