Well that's what I have read I'm pretty sure in this thread. There is others who have said that they put clamps on theirs and then their boot developed a hole in on of the fins and SDHQ wouldn't warranty it cause they put a clamp on it and its designed to not have one. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt that their product would work. Now I am wishing I went with my gut and put a clamp on it.

It is a lot of grease. However I just paid to have these installed last Wednesday and its my daily driver. I one don't have time to pull them and repack with grease and I'm not paying to have it done again. I don't have money to keep throwing away on it. I guess I will be hoping that there is enough grease left in the boot to suffice.
On a side note does anyone know how much grease I should have put in them? Curious if there's a chance that I put too much grease in the boots? I put what was recommended by SDHQ. I read it on here somewhere they said half a tube with a quarter of a tube of Belray per boot.

I thought about this as well. Should have done it. Just really disappointed and pissed off at the same time right now.

I did the boot slide mod so I doubt it would've worked without a clamp in that case anyway, seems strange that they'd say not to use a clamp despite the boot having a groove for it to sit in, interested to hear what they say about this.

I read the same thing in the earlier stages of this thread, that no inner clamp was needed. So you’re not crazy Jonny!

OP says if you bought the kit after 1/17 it should've come with the inner clamp

Well that's a recent change. I bought mine last year so no clamps.
Just recently got around to rebooting my OEM shafts and needing to put them on the truck

So I would like to thank Joey @SDHQ OFFROAD for the recommendation today. It turns out my dumbass put too much grease in the boots when I rebooted. So I guess its a good thing it tossed it all out. Now to decide if I still have enough grease in the boots to suffice. Joey suggested that I pop the outer clamps off and peel the boot back to see if there was enough grease in there. I popped the clamps off on the drivers side there was what looked to me to be plenty of grease left, so I clamped it back and zip tied the inner parts of the boots till I can get some clamps. Hopefully it will not leak anymore. Thanks again Joey.

Dammit. Didn't write my mileage down on here back in 2014. Anyways, I believe these boots went on at around-ish 160k, could be wrong on that. Now have 275 on the truck and have a pleat that has torn asunder on the drivers side. Soo, about 110-115k on them is best guess. Dual use out of the truck, it does it all for me. CV's still feel fine and roll smooth. Might just reload them again for another try. Very well worth the effort and money, but undecided on my deal just yet. My OEM's had started to crack and seep out at about 120-140k, but not a full boot tear failure till about 160k. Decisions.

Just got a set to replace the one side I didn't have these boots on. The side with them still going strong.

I'm not sure if this is posted somewhere else in the thread, it isn't mentioned on the OP, SDHQ no longer does the forum discount. Not a big deal, just figure this is a good update to post. They still offer a Mil/1st Responder discount.
