Depends if you want to cut and trim things or not.

I’d rather not cut or trim anything.

I suppose if you aren't going to wheel, you might slightly rub in reverse at full lock with a 3" lift.

I was hoping to do some overland stuff, not necessarily wheeling. I can handle a bit of rub.

Lifting does not change the max tire size that can fit.

What is the max tire size then?

    Officially?

    265/75R16
    or
    265/70/R17

The longer answer is that some poeple have been lucky and can fit 255s or 285s. It comes down to manufacturing tolerances and alignment. Some frames require the tires to be aligned in such a manner that rub a bigger tire, some are the opposite. The next issue is rubbing on the control arm and lifting wont help that either.

The fact is that lifting does nothing to increase the size of tire you can fit. It MIGHT be acceptable to you on the pavement, but being lifted does not increase clearance when the suspension is fully compressed and/or turned to the stops.

285 will first with a CMC. Also depending on what 285. My co worker runs a LT 285 MT that's 33.3" on a King lift at 3" and he had to do a cab mount relocation and he also runs a aftermarket bumper. He still runs on the sway bar just a touch. Also he needed aftermarket A Arms. I think he runs older SPC.

Personally me.....I'm gonna run P265/75r16 AT, will fully tuck and won't kill my milage.

Okay so what I’m understanding is that the truck has its own limitations on tire size besides just fitting into the wheel well.

this is great information because I’ve never really been a fan of big lifts. I prefer the biggest tire with the smallest amount of lift possible.

Now I’m feeling I need to rethink tire size. After market bumpers are on the shopping list but first things first.

I APPRECIATE THIS THREAD SO MUCH, I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ANY OF THIS STUFF AND ALSO WANT BIGGER TIRES WITH BETTER OFF ROAD CAPABILITY WITHOUT LIFTING. ONE OTHER QUESTION I HAD IS CAN YOU JUST TAKE THE STOCK 16 OFF AND PUT ON 17 WHEELS? THIS IS MY FIRST TRUCK EVER.
