I have no issues with having a safety inspection every year. My issues are the way the system is operated. There's a huge lack of knowledge, reading comprehension, and room for abuse.

Well the guy who is going to inspect mine just did another truck first and was done in 15 minutes. That’s promising.

If they just do actual safety oriented, vs. oh does your independtly wired and controlled light bar on the roof rack not have a cover, yet is white bulb/white reflector which goes to your literacy comprehension point Dave...come on man fail folks for REAL risks and safety oriented aspects!

Still find it interesting that our inspection/VA. Code doesn't require reverse lights!!!! Come on man, what's that about?

So when I lived in VB I used to take it to a guy who, and I have nothing to gain from this, but did one of my inspections in 8 minutes. From the time he pulled it into the bay until the time he handed my keys and said “$16 bucks and you’re good.” So hopefully you’ll be squared away before no time

I can definitely tell you the place, but I’m pretty sure the guy no longer works there :annoyed:

Guy goes to a local motorcycle dealership to purchase and have installed some aftermarket turn signals. While it is there he asks them to do the safety inspection. They install the lights, fail it for having non DOT/SAE lights, then refuse to release the bike stating they would be liable for any accidents. It was 20 years ago so I cannot remember how it ended. It was not me, or how it ended would be well documented in court records.

Well well well. He said to change out my headlight side markers for amber at some point so I picked some up on my way home. Other than that, good to go. I’m legal, boys.

White ones. The old burned out bulbs I removed looked white so I bought white ones last night.

Word. Glad you’re all set. And thankfully corner bulbs are a quick swap in & out.

The reverse lights thing is old. Up until around the mid-60s reverse lights weren't a required option as far as manufacturers were concerned.

Which brings me to another point. DOT is soooo far behind in vehicle manufacturing standards compared to overseas.

Or if anyone wants some 245/75R17 Dueller ATs, I've got 4 with 1k on them plus a new spare for a few 4-packs from solace, adroit, or ocelot. Just need them out of my storage unit this week so I can start staging my move.

I passed with Baja Design Sports for anytime fogs/DRL, and I have a bumper light bar, and a roof light bar - all uncovered. Oh and I have a 6" light bar that faces backwards.

    Go to Gulf in Herndon.
