I got them on Amazon, but it took fucking forever and found out they are just the HF ones:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0787XV8SX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Which are just 2 of these: And now that I see it on HF's site I also see I ridiculously over paid too.

Oh well, win some, lose some.

Its really a shame, at the shop where I work we have a good amount of welding equipment (atleast it looks like a good amount to me) but no one really knows how to use it. We have all of it because we build and repair our equipment ourselves for the most part. My boss can weld a little, but our old coworker who was previously a welder ended up getting fired due to mental instability (and plenty of self-righteous laziness) that caused him to threaten us with violence on many occasions. Anyway, I really wish I knew how to weld metal, but my boss doesn't really know enough to be able to teach me.

Also he has some nice masks with the digital filters, not pictured here.

If you want to and he allows it, just watch youtube and start practicing on scrap metal. That's all I've done, I'm all self taught. A lot of people in here are.

I would like to, and I'm sure he'd let me. Just have to find the time to come in, I live about 40 minutes from the shop. It seems like a crazy useful skill.

Do it during work hours, what’s better than getting paid to learn to weld? It will benefit the shop to have someone who knows how to weld so maybe your boss will allow you an hour or so here and there for learning.

I’m self taught as well. I learned to weld by reading tech articles in Car Craft magazine. I was restoring a mustang and buying a welder was cheaper than paying someone to do some sheet metal repair. I was inspired by shade tree mechanics from the dawn of the hot rod era. Figured if they could learn to weld with much more limited resources (no YouTube, trade schools, etc) I should be able to as well. Time and practice got me to where I am today.

Are you in sales? Lol. But no, that actually makes a lot of sense. Without the aforementioned employee here were gonna be paying someone to come make repairs when the next thing breaks.

Not Yota Related. Fabbed this configurable Sheppard's hook (for gardening). You can easily move the hooks anywhere on the post rings so you can arrange hanging planters anyway you see fit. This is going to be a gift for my dad. Needs Finish.

Wanna make another one? My wife would love something like that and I lack the time and artistic skill for that.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the interest. If you're serious, I could definitely make it again. It would be pricey though since it took much more work than I even initially thought. Idk how much you're willing to pay, but I suspect it's much higher than you think. Could be wrong though.

Little oil pan mod for my 81... tig welding cast aluminum is not fun. Also had to machine a new temp sensor bung and fab a new pickup tube out of “oh too thin wall” pie cuts

Hi everyone, I started following this thread a couple months back and recently pulled the trigger on a welder (Titanium 170). I've never welded before but it's something I've always wanted to try, so I was able to somehow sell this as my Father's Day gift. :notsure: Anyway, I'm hoping to share my progress and ideas with you all and get your advice and see where this takes me.

I got the welder setup this weekend and welded a few 16 gauge coupons onto a 1/8" sheet. Had to play with the wire feed setting before I got something that resembled a bead. Initially had it set for 16 gauge but it was a splattery mess, so i increased the speed so its somewhere between the settings for 16 gauge and 1/8".

Here is a picture of the 2nd and 3rd coupons i did last night (left one is the 3rd). It's a hatchet job but i was pretty stoked nonetheless. Would appreciate any feedback you might have. One question I have is regarding the splatter, any tips on how to eliminate it? I'm running flux core .030 wire.
