For one, my experience was 20yrs ago engineering plans for wind, seismic, and gravity. No formal training as I was my first materials stress job after working in design.

Note that I said areas, not city or municipality, but certainly, each permit office had aspects that they focused on more than others.

Here, an AE could not approve plans for wind or seismic, only gravity. Also, AE approval was not required if the permit review felt that the design was good. Our work was split pretty evenly between designers and architects.

I have no idea what checks the permit offices did, but we would often find issues from designers, architects, and rando joes who used their CAD work time to gen up house plans.

    Hahaha!

We used the wind and seismic maps out of the UBC as the starting data.

I would still go back to wind is not stopping folks from going vertical. Just more land to not waste money on beams and joists.

    Whatever!

Already 80's before 10. Too late to go plinking unless I want to burn. Dr's appt went well, but after going over my history and a few tests, I am a diagnosed crippled ho. He says there is no cure, only that I must place a jar of almonds on my nightstand every night after saying geezbo in the mirror 3 times and defeating Tom Hanks when he appears. Anywho, time to grill

Maybe they will extend it if it’s going good for both parties?
