It actually looks like I'll be doing my own 5.7 swap.

I wouldn't want to do that after watching the videos of the one dude hack up his truck to try and get it to fit. It fits...but..wow.

dylan put a gen 1 tundra v8 into his 2nd gen taco and is running fine... so i'd rather go that route after seeing it done sucessfully. would love to be able to keep my manual tranny, tcase and crawlbox tho

interesting. Does he have a build of it? (probably not :p )

That engine is freaking huge so can't be an easy fit.

Id rather do an LS, smaller, just a powerful, and you can get an manual for that. At least several options/routes you could do.

it actually fit pretty nicely in there... he did a good job on it. i doubt he documented it enough for a build. yea i wonder the cost/benefit differences...

been toying with the idea of just finding another 2nd gen and swap my shit over...

why what wrong with yours? Or did I miss something?

Either way, engine swapping correctly/cleanly is expensive. No way around that. I also be interested in the 3uzfe 4.3L v8. But again...an LS is cheaper and easier to install/support/modify.

Nothing yet... few issues popping up with fuel trims getting my head thinking about it again.

That 4.7L from the tundra doesn't make a lot of power... I think our supercharged V6's out do them. Unless you're planning on throwing a bunch of mod money at the 4.7?

    DCLB ftw though.

Oh shit ha I thought Bob said Dylan put a 5.7 in there. A 4.7 would be easy to fit I'd think. But I'd be more interested in the newer 4.6l smaller tundra v8 probably. It's no slouch.

I'm doing a whole platform change, only thing I can really swap over is the radio stuff. I thought about a Tacoma but it didn't really give me much of a jump up over a 4runner other than a bed.

finished up the solar setup yesterday. with the addition of an isolator flowing from the aux battery to the start battery, when the ignition is off, solar will be able to flow over to the start battery when the aux battery hits 13.2V. when ignition is on, the isolator is disconnected and the flow from the start battery to the BCDC operates as normal. there is also now an override to allow manual joining of the two batteries. diagram attached...

    Damn Bob! Sounds fancy.

Oh that 4.6 would make more sense. I think it's the same engine family as the 5.7, so probably pretty big. But if it fits it'd be an improvement for sure.

I don't know that much about. But its a nice motor. If it fit better than the 5.7 it would be the better option. Much more power than the older 4.7L

That was fast. What’s the reason for selling if you don’t mind me asking.

Need to switch it up to better fit our needs.

Camper has been great tho... Definitely a game changer.
