Metallic clunk while crusing or turning right

    I just did a brake rotor/pad swap on my truck this weekend. Went for a break-in drive and noticing a metal on metal clunking sound when cruising after a while or turning right. I lifted the left front wheel so that I could inspect and turn it manually and I can't see any contact points. My only theory is that the brake rotor shield may be touching under certain loads. There is no bearing or control arm wobble as far as I can tell.

    What else should I check?

    Did you torque the caliper down?
    If not, it will move around.

    those rotor shields are close, maybe try bending them back

    91 ft-lbs is the spec for the caliper bolts, and I did them to spec. This sound was starting before the brake job also if I remember right. Been a few weeks.

    It wouldn’t hurt to check the LCA bolts.
    I don’t know why, but they have been known to come loose.

    I checked all of the non-cotter pinned nuts and they were all tight. Could not detect any wobble anywhere. The dust shield for the brake rotors was really close so I bent it away from the rotor a bit.

    Mods are currently being changed .....
    Clunking noises can also be (in no particular order) ball joints, LCA cam bolts not torqued down to spec, and radiator support mount bushings.
