I'm looking to order my topper and I'm between the ARE MX and the Snugtop Hi-Liner. With the options I wanted the price came out to be $2400 for the ARE vs $2650 for the Snugtop. The dealer mentioned that the Snugtops have a double seal that makes them easier to reinstall. I know that I'll probably be taking my topper off once or twice a year so that might be worth having. Let me know if you have any thoughts one way or another on these two brands and also whether you think the Snugtop is easier to reinstall.

    Thanks!

If anyone wants to talk about carpeted headliners while they're here, feel free. I don't think I need the carpet but I'm open to advice. I live in TX where it's hot as hell and even winter camping isn't usually terribly cold (I don't camp below 25 degrees).

I've never looked but I will later this week when I do some work.
I haven't have a problem with my ARE MX so far.

I'l be interested in what you get. I am in a similar boat but in no rush to buy.

Question on pricing/options. ARE website says MX starts at $2400. Some options that seem obvious also don't appear to be included (headliner, interior light) are add-ons with the ARE where they are included with the Snugtop. Snugtop doesn't list a starting price on the website that I can tell. So the quotes you got - are those both factory standard options with no add-ons?

I can tell you that back in the late 90's I owned a Ford Ranger. A buddy owned an old pre-tacoma pickup. We both had shells, his did not have a carpeted liner, mine did. I really liked mine significantly better. I did camp in it and it just made it feel cleaner. The interior of his always made me feel like I was in someones unfinished basement. I can't say it made it warmer it was simply cleaner. They also say it helps with condensation if you plan to sleep in it.

One benefit of the snugtop as far as I have read is you can get the keyless lock for a hi rise cap. This is not possible with ARE or Leer.
Unfortunately does not seem like snugtop have dealers on the east coast. :annoyed:
Because this is the exact setup I’m looking for.

I've had both and my current SnugTop is a better product than my ARE was.
I let the ARE go with my 2010 when I traded for my 2015.
