At dealer today, just some observations

I was at the Toyota dealer today where I bought my truck in December. I was getting my 10,000 mile Toyota care maintenance done. I asked the service writer about the fuel pump recall as I have a 2019 TRD sport. She looked it up and told me there was no recall for my truck. I asked her how that could be, and she told me it goes by serial number and my truck wasn’t listed as recall vehicle. Hmmm ....

As I was waiting for the oil change and tire rotation I strolled the lot. I was amazed at how few Tacoma‘s were available compared to back in December. There was maybe 8-9 SR (maybe some SR5) access cabs and maybe one or 2 TRD off-road and sport models. Most if not all of the access cab models or manual transmission. That was it. Didn’t recall seeing any used ones just one used tundra.

Yeah my dealer here has less than 10 on the lot

 

Same dealer I got my truck from end of year still had 40+ tacos on the lot. Half of then were off road's (which i think is why I got a decent deal). Now I think they have single digits...maybe one off road, a few SR5's, and a sport.

 

This is a result of factories being shut down while the dealerships remained open. Limited inventory on new vehicles = limited inventory on used vehicles/ trade-ins.

I sold my 5th gen 4R in one day to a private party at the beginning of July. It was certainly challenging to find a replacement vehicle given the limited inventory out there here in MN. I just couldn't justify buying new, and I was looking for a 3rd gen w/ leather and a long box.

 

My local dealer usually has 50 Tacoma’s on the lot. Today they have 7.

 

Tacoma’s becoming scarce like bikes, coins and push carts. Everyone is going overland so they are ready to dip out when things get worse.
Check blue book for fun. 16 &17’s are worth what you paid for them 4 years ago.

 

same here in Boise area--far fewer vehicles than usual. Salesman also told me they are having trouble getting in trade-ins as well. Of course, he may have just been trying to get me to trade in my wife's car...

 

Toyota dealerships will jump on recall work. Easy money for them.

Double check but your fuel pump should be gtg

 

No surprise that any new vehicle dealership lots are bare as factory production has been shut down.

 

My dealer offered me $34K on my '17 limited 36K miles last week in North Carolina on a 2020 Sport. The wife said, "NO".

 

My gf just had to get a 2020 trd pro in mgm she loves it but it was the only one for 150 miles.

I'd agree with the slim pickens. Picked up a 2017 TRD off road today in Idaho for 33.5k with 20k miles on it. Hopefully we got a good deal, but we have been looking for weeks not wanting to pay a shhload for a new one (those are scarce too). Looking forward to learning from you all on here!

 

I heard the same BS from my dealer. Mine was not in the recall. Three days letter i get a official letter from Toyota saying it is part of the recall.

One of my local dealers claims to the largest Toyota dealership in the world and they have very few on their lot. Only 2 of them are 4x4
