i agree 2k is exceptionally cheap for all that labor. like i said for my situation though i can do the work myself. i was a structural body technician for many years so i never worry about the work on the vehicle, i can do it all myself, i only left the body shops to go work for the government. i would rather do the work myself honestly. i would prefer to have the dirt king rear kit to match my dirt king long travel kit up front, i just need to get a quote from them for the SUA kit and the bed cage. which i highly doubt from them would be over 6k for what i need. i think dirt kings quality is better than camburgs in my personal opinion, so i would prefer to have the dirt king products.

I believe the spring under kit was around $1800 and around the same for the bed cage. With 3.0 shocks you’d be right in the 6k range for parts minus frame box kit, bump stops limit straps, driveline etc

They quoted me $2k without sheet metal work last year.

They have a Black Friday sale I got the kit for at $4400 out the door, bought new in box (2.5) bypasses and coilovers for $2500 off of RD, new bumps for $420 on OfferUp.

Looks great! Congrats. Didn't cut any corners on this build. Notching and boxing the frame makes this kit so unique.

Plenty of people will complain about price + labor cost and try to DIY or find someone to do it for cheaper but in the end you get what you pay for. You know this already though. The guys at DK are stand up and obviously think through their product.

I don’t understand how you can compare the estimate these guys are getting for 12-14k on a front end to saying guys are paying 7-8k for a front end

dirt king LT kit with heim UCA $3250
    King 2.5 coilover $1600
    King 2.5 bypass $1700
    Camburg spindles $1600
    Dirt king bypass kit $500
Dirt king double shear kit $150
    King 2.0 bumpstops $600

just the total in those parts alone is $9400 that’s minus labor and misc parts that still ad up. I feel like we can go in circles all day throwing out these numbers of parts you can find on Craigslist or offer up and having your buddy do an install in the garage with the gas on the welder turned off. But these are real world numbers not factoring in a shops labor rate of $100+ per hour. I’m completely fine paying for quality work because in the end I’m building a quality truck. Anyone can say yeah I can do the labor myself in the garage, but unless your putting out the same caliber work as a high end shop your not saving any money, your just getting a cheaper result for a cheaper price. Dirt King painted literally everything on my frame, replaced all hardware, cleanest welds I have ever seen. Some people choose to pay a shop to do the work beyond what their skill or time will allow, and some people do it themselves because it’s what their budget will allow. The argument could go on and on and of course there will always be a cheaper way to do things but I’m completely content paying for this caliber of work

Yeah quite a few of your prices are wrong for some of us......First of all let me state my truck is 4wd not 2, so my dirt king kit with heim upgrade and complete halfshafts already machined at the 22 degree angle for max travel was 5300 out the door...Secondly the king price your posting is without adjusters, so my kings were 2200 out the door for just the coilover...So your off by quite a bit. Mind you i purchased all that from dirt king so that is THEIR prices.. Also a double schear kit is only 90 bucks...not 150.. On to another point.. Yes dirt king does outstanding work, but so do a lot of people in their garage that know what they are doing, so dont try and degrade someone for doing it in their garage because you lack the skill set to be capable to do it yourself. The fabricators at dirt king more than likely started in their garage themselves, so good news you are getting quality work but plenty of people also do quality work in their garage because they enjoy it as a hobby rather than a job. I worked in a production body shop for ten years as a lead structural tech, after ten years i hated it, because it was no longer a hobby to work on cars but a job, and that took the fun out of it for me. So now i strictly do it in the garage. Also, dont say YOUR building a quality truck, you obviously didnt build anything. dirt king built a quality truck, you just paid money to have it built, thats kinda stealing the thunder from the excellent work THEY did... Rant over

I wasn’t talking about your truck or it being 4wd or 2wd or what parts you have or what you paid. I was listing what the parts on my truck cost. And I never said anything bad about people fabbing in their garage, I said if they aren’t doing comparable work it’s hard to compare the price

I guess you have to read what I wrote as that's the budget I've seen for most guys on here. They're running coilover only with maybe an air bump or Wheeler's SuperBumps or now some newer ones a member started making. They're not running a 3.0 bypass. Gussets aren't too hard if you have a welder, grinder and time. Most are running gusseted spindles vs fabbed.

A couple points while still on topic - I appreciate that they use a standard e30 leaf pack anyone can just go pick up from Deaver instead of a proprietary / one off pack that you may have to go through the competition's shop to get to Deaver for specs. Bolt on is cool which my friend said is great since you can sell it more easily when you link your truck (or most likely return your truck to stock and buy a 4runner as the trend seems to be at least on this site).

Let's go get back on topic of the cool DK SUA kit which we still need some footage of in some nice rough stuff so we can check out it's doing it's thing.
