Have 9500 in my truck and wife has Valentine 1 in her car. It has saved me on numerous occasions on curves or at night when you can't see them hidden. Nice piece of mind at night when you know if a cop is clocking your speed or not. Around here cops will pull you over for going 10+ over the speed limit.

Haha. I haven’t been on TW for long, but that’s a true statement.

Yep, hardwiring a detector is the way to go.

@TOR52 would you mind to share extra pics of the setup and list of parts? I want to set up an Uniden unit as well, but I'm not a huge fan of seeing the wires dangling :(.

I have a 9500 as well. I find that it works really well. I don't have a lead foot, but I'll push the limit on the highways when I'm eager to get the hell out of town. I always take apart the silencer button and flush mount it somewhere clever that is out of sight and easy to reach. All ya gotta do is find the right spot, drill a little hole for the button and hot glue it into place.

Yeah, we have a lot of Radar still. You do get laser splash from other cars a fair amount of the time, but you don't have much time to correct. I haven't used one for a bit, but they were helpful. Most of the time now, if I'm going fast enough to need one, I'm getting 11mpg lol.

I used to love my valentine back in the day, but all it got was complaints from my passengers. I had grown used to the beeping. These days following a general rule of thumb helps me avoid those roadside chats:
    A) keep it within 10% of the limit on freeways, rural, and big cities, and/or stay in the bottom 50% of average traffic speed.
    B) Play by exact rules when the highway runs through small towns. When you see three to five speed limit changes in a row, pay attention.
    C) Consider doing five under if travelling through any urban neighborhood that has its own "city limit" sign. You know the ones. The kind where traffic court sits in the same building as the HOA. Those places are brutal.

Been running my Old Redline radar detector for years has done a good job all in all. I mean I don't speed in the city but on the hyway I like to flow with the fast lane. I sent mine back years ago to escort and they did a mod on mine called "segmenting" which now when scanning Ka band it only scans the frequency being used by the current production Ka band manufacturers and not the entire band. I turn K and X band off, Cant jam Laser anymore in Texas. Gota drive conservative but still like to know who's out their. oh yeah picked up power from the mirror plug so the device is up high
