Ya man that’s just a dirt road. Armor isn’t really needed. Your hitch can handle that all day. That’s Subaru country

Can't shake the feeling that if I wanted/needed to take it at an angle, or if was at all Rocky, I'd be replacing/repainting the BSM covers....

LOL, your right. Already have rekgens on.

Ya gotta take it straight so the hitch eats it, as soon as you go in at an angle you'll rock back and forth on those corners. I found the stock bumper to be surprisingly stout, I've dragged it across a few rocks and all it did was scratch the paint. I did eventually break them off in Moab but I made it through like 3 trails before they finally bit the dust.

Sometimes one doesn't have the luxury of hitting things square, such that a hitch skid will be of little help.

This trail is a bit more extreme than I would choose to do, but a V-shape ledge can be encountered anywhere, and it only takes one to do in the bumper.

There are plenty more videos on youtube to prove the point that the corners of the stock bumper are pretty fragile.

Meh, I’ve been in worse. We all know plastic is plastic.
