Tailgate FAIL?

    Over the years I’ve noticed that there are some weaknesses in Toyota tailgates. The fancier they make them the more prone toy parts failure.
    I had a Tundra on which the latch linkage failed after six weeks two days after the one side was repaired the other side failed.
    I think part if the problem is many folks rarely open their tailgate. Toyota knows this and likely goes a bit cheap on them.
    In my case I likely opened the tailgate 20 or 30 times a day. That frequency on a poorly designed part caused the failure. I know the part was poorly designed as Toyota already identified the problem, designed and distributed the replacement part, before I bought the truck.
    Ihad no further problems after the new parts were installed.

    someone on this forum 3D printed these back a couple years and was selling them on here, can't remember who it was but if you do a search for tailgate bushing, something may pop up..otherwise a trip to the dealer and under warranty if its under 3yr/36k miles
