I ordered a set of SPC upper control arms and have a question. It might be a week or two before I can get an alignment after install. If I install them in their recommended initial setting placement, would it be close enough to alignment specs to safely drive around town? Or should I time the install a day before the alignment appointment?

I would time the install and alignment as close as possible. A bad alignment is going to wear your tires unevenly and could pull hard to one side, but as long as it's only a few miles of driving its not the end of the world.

I’m about to do my install. From what I gather, 2-3” of lift and the SPCs adjusted to position D in the diagram, gets you close. I still wouldn’t put too many miles on before an alignment.

There are videos of doing a home alignment. It looks a bit effort intensive but if you want peace of mind using some of the methods for DIY alignment could help you verify you aren't badly out of spec. I've never done it so my best advice is youtube 'at home alignment' or 'DIY alignment'. You can be the judge on time investment for peace of mind.

Ninja Edit: It looks like there is a stick thread on DIY alignment in this forum.

Yeah, I wouldn't be doing any road trips, just to and from work which is about a 3km. trip. The most would be 2 weeks of this max. probably less.
