I had a guy come by my powder coating shop today to pick up his @CBI Offroad Fab bed rack for his 3rd gen. I asked him if he got it second hand because it had paint peeling off and was rusty under the bubbled up paint.

He went on to explain that he had just purchased it brand new and chose to pay an extra $200 to have it powder coated, and well CBI must have ripped him off because it was in fact painted not powder coated. He told me he reached out multiple times by phone and email to resolve this issue but has not heard back.

Just wanted to warn anyone in the market, seems to be some shady business practice... I've also seen some bad things from others about powder coat being "not all that great" and this definitely doesn't help the cause. I have tons of parts powder coated on my truck, some of which have been going on 5-6 years with zero issue with rust or adhesion.

Wish I had taken pictures but I didn't find out until he picked it up and I had the chance to ask as I helped load the pieces into the back of his truck.

Sorry to hear about this. There must be more to this story. If the rack was that new and powder coated by us we definitely would have covered it no questions asked. If it was in fact paint, as you say, it most certainly was not painted by us as we only do powder coat. I have worked at CBI since day one and we have never painted anything.
If any of our customers read this and have had any issues with any of our products, please reach out to us.

@magneticwhite88 have your customer call me (Kenny) directly. If he paid for powder coat and his order is as recent as stated I will gladly refund his powder coat cost.
