Hey everyone, sorry if this has been asked/addressed my search didn't show anything.

I just went in for an oil change and my place does a pretty good inspection. Got one area for concern, the tech found my front R lower ball joint has begun to leak grease. No play in it at the moment.
I've not really wheeled it much, but love to go offroad and find campsites. Will have to keep this in mind for obstacles in the future.

I asked the guys how much to repair and the shop procedure is to replace the entire unit on both sides. Now of course I can ask they only do the one side or take it someplace else. The guy didn't do a full estimate for me, but said it the past it runs in the area of 1k! I was floored. In his opinion I have a good 6 months before Ive got to really consider it, so i have time to save. Just wanted some input here.

Have you found this happened to you, is the pricing steep, anything?
I'm not a gear head so any repairs i have to get done for me. I'm in Knoxville TN if it helps.
    Thanks gang!

1k is insane don’t pay that lol. If you can’t find a different shop see if you can post in the Tennessee regional section I’m sure someone on here is willing to help

King 25001-119A, JBA HC and superbumps, EL095 leafs with longer overload leaf removed and 2 degree shim, Bilstein 5160 rears with fox roost shield on passenger side, King 2'' bump stops, B&M 70264 trans cooler, CSF FJ radiator, Leer Trilogy X2T bed cover, Scangauge, 34R AGM battery, weathertech floormats, Gold plug on the differential, fancy engine and diff oils, UNI air injection filter mod, Factory antenna chopped 4'', De-badged, Ram mount on A pillar, Cooper ST Maxx 265/75 R16.
If it is a small amount I'd leave it and check for play periodically. These boots aren't going to hold 100% of the grease. Both of mine have signs of small leakage.

1K only makes sense if they are replacing the alignment cam hardware as well as both arms.

Toyota OEM arms are ~300ea delivered, OEM hardware per side is ~100-150. So you're at 800+ just in parts doing both sides. 2-3 hours labor if the hardware is seized (and it likely will be) and need to be cut out and I could buy 1K.
